Comcast Cares Day, Philadelphia report
Today is Comcast Cares Day and nearly 60,000 Comcasters worked on over 500 service projects across the country in their local communities. I’m based in Philadelphia where there were several projects happening. I helped clean up, plant flowers, and paint at Hunting Park along with lots of other Comcast people. Seeing everyone working so hard to clean up the park was a great feeling. I even had a chance to chat with Olivia, one of our customer service folks in Norristown, and she was very excited to be cleaning up the park that she used to visit as a little girl. Ralph Roberts was at Hunt Park where a bench was dedicated to him (pictured to the right), and you can check out more photos from the day here. 
While I was out in the park other Comcasters were rolling up their sleeves and working on beautifying Locke Elementary School in West Philadelphia (watch a video about the work that was done here). Folks were working together to paint a murals, landscaping, and putting a fresh coat, or two, of paint on various school walls.
Over 300 Comcast employees, along with their family and friends, some Locke students and parents, and City Year volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Dr. Vernadine Cartwright, Principal of Locke, expressed her gratitude to all the volunteers and quite was overwhelmed by the great turn out.

We had a great Comcast Day here in Salt Lake City in Lincoln Elementary. The last thing that I heard from one of the volunteer coordinators was that we had more than 150 extra volunteers show up at the door to help out--that was over the 400+ others already registered. Looking forward to see the next issue of Comcast Connection to read the reports of what happened around the other sites here in the Utah Market. It was also a lot of fun to "tweet" throughout the day (#ccday).
