Comcast Response to Questions about MSNBC and Keith Olbermann
"Comcast has not closed the transaction for NBC Universal and has no operational control at any of its properties including MSNBC. We pledged from the day the deal was announced that we would not interfere with NBC Universal's news operations. We have not and we will not." Sena Fitzmaurice, Comcast spokesperson.

With Mt. Olbermann going to CurrentTV and becoming a part owner, this should put an end to the rumors about Comcast playing a role in getting him to leave. It appears he may have had this deal in mind when he worked out an exit agreement from MSNBC. I wish Keith good luck in his new venture!
MSNBC has now made a mistake in operating by the removal of Keith Olbermann.
This will hurt the ratings for MSNBC at leat by one viewer.
I do like Maddow but tuned in for Keith.
Hope to see him on TV soon.
Trust me when I say that without Keith Olberman MSNBC no longer exist for me and so many others all across this country. If we really want to show our true feelings about Comcast, MSNBC TV and the disrespectful manner in which Keith Olberman was forced to exit Countdown, we would boycott the network or at least the 8pm to 9pm slot. Monday through Friday. . I have not watched MSNBC since that fateful night last week when Keith departed leaving an irreplaceable void at the network he had a major hand in developing.
Sorry, not buying it. Comcast has the influence to start cleaning house if they want now that the merger is a foregone conclusion; Angela Bromstad stepped down from the NBC entertainment division this week, and Zucker was forced out sometime back. The owners of Comcast are well-known conservative benefactors. Don't think people aren't on to you and your slimely ways, Comcast.
It's about time our antitrust laws were enforced. Comcast should be broken up and its assets seized. after your firing (yes, it is obvious) of Keith Olbermann--the demise of Comcast can't happen soon enough.
Dear Comcast,
Although you claim that you will not interfere with NBC Universal's news operations, we Comcast subscribers are going to keep a sharp eye on how you handle the vitriol that comes from MSNBC on a daily bases.
This is by far the worst case of left wing hate speech, defamation of charactor, and attacks on people they do not agree with.
It is clear that much of the extreme hate towards the right is perpetuated by the thugs at MSNBC.
I will support any and all efforts to boycott Comcast if the corporation does not deal with this issue.
DirecTV and Dish are biting at the bit right now.
A concerned Comcast customer.
I don't believe you either so i'm dropping Comcast and i'm going to post this on my MySpace and Facebook pages as well as Craiglist rants all over the country. You guys are toast if i have anything to say about it. Not everyone will listen but you will hurt! Capitalism at work!
As far as I'm concerned I don't care if I ever watch MSNBC again. Keith Olberman was the very best thing you had going for you and you forced him out. He cared about the "little people" to tell it like it is no matter whose toes he had to step on. He was a passionate person when it came to important issues and he spoke out for us. Shame on you all for once again proving what is really important in this country--money! I will follow Keith wherever and whenever he goes. I hope it's somewhere competitive to you and he buries your ratings in the dirt.
From what I have read on many news sources i6t is NOT Comcast's fault. Keith and MSNBC have been in negotiations for over six months because Keith was not really happy at MSNBC. What caused these problems was only hinted at, but it seems that it was a mutual parting of the ways. Could MSNBC have done more to accommodate Keith - perhaps. Could Keith have been a bit more understanding of MSNBC - perhaps. That's why as I previously stated when things cool down I would be very appreciative if both Keith and MSNBC sit down and try to reach an agreement they can both live with.
Bring Keith back. Our household will boycott MSNBC and Comcast services will be removed from our home.
You can count on that!
I plan to no longer have Comcast as my internet and cable provider as I think Comcast is involved in censorship of the news ie Keith Olberman which I feel has no place in a democracy. I also am considering no longer watching NBC news and MSNBC once you own it and will participate in boycotting sponsors that continue to support NBC and Comcast. I had no idea that your company participated in this kind of behavior and will spend my money elsewhere.
I am currently a Comcast cable subscriber but that is about to change. And as a customer and thus someone who has experience with the way your corporation operates, I don't believe a word of your disclaimer.
What a crock of bs. Does Comcast think the viewers are "dense" ? Stupid is as stupid does.
My friend Don warned me this would happen when Comcast took over GE. It was like he had a vision Keith would be gone for his outspoken behavior, by the way which we need to counterbalance Fox News. Now that writing on the wall dried, it happened. Explain that one?? I know that I speak for Keith's die hard fans that they and I will boycott MSNBC I won't buy one single product from the advertisers. But I am taking it one step further. Comcast will not be my cable company anymore, I am going to ATT's Satellite TV. I believe your statement as much as I believe Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck.
Bring Keith Olbermann back. There is no way that I will be watching MSNBC or supporting any of their sponsors until he has been reinstated. No one believes you, this is no coincidence. You win a sweet monopoly deal and immediately fire Keith. Sound like someone can't handle the truth being told. I will now be checking into direct TV. This was a grievous mistake. Keith made MSNBC what it is today. Keith raised $2,000,000 to save lives with free health clinics, thousands for the poor family who's home burned to the ground while fireman watched, and thousands for organ transplant patients. And just exactly what have you done for humanity? Hmmm. That's what I thought?
Keith will find his voice again and you are a fool to have fired him.......

I want to leave comcast now due to them buying msnbc and trying to silence keith if they think this will help the 2012 elections it wont we will still get the truth out everyone boycott comcast and msnbc lets not let them push us around.
I will take you at you word that Comcast did not influence anyone at NBC to end Keith Olbermann's show at MSNBC. But as a token of good faith when you do acquire control of NBC why not try to rehire him. I think the cooling off period for both MSNBC and Mr. Olbermann may be helpful in bringing him back in a role where he can continue to contribute to the success of MSNBC.
KO will be sorely missed .. One of a VERY FEW Newscasters (US Mass Media) that Speaks The TRUTH, and Truely CARES about America, and Our CONSTITUTION.. I am confident KO will SOON be employed by another (Non Corporate Owned) Channel
you expect us to believe that??. He is gone because of comcast period. Fox news probably forced you to get rid of him and he is such a staunch champion for net neutrality and called Fox out on their lies. you are to blame and you know it. I am canceling our comcast subscription which we have had since 2006. We pay $256 a month. you will lose $3072 a year from us to your main competitor.
If you did not have anything to do with Keith's being let go, you always have the opportunity to bring him back. Since television is always worried about the ratings, can't understand letting him go with his high ratings - not a good move!
You lost me and many many others when you fired Kieth. He was the best you had.
Just how much do you pay the FCC to keep your monopoly going? Why has this right-winged agenda-pushing conglomerate not been broken up yet? It needs to be, and I for one will be contacting the FCC and government officials demanding the disbanding of this "company" along with boycotting all NBC shows until I can find a better service provider that does not hinder the right for its viewers to watch REAL politics, not some spoon-fed conservative horse manure.
...and even if we DID believe you and you had nothing to do with this, you're still going to take all of the blame.
You can count this as the beginning of the end for Comcast.
Firing Keith Olbermann is outrageous and an extreme commentary of what I wonder is MSNBC's future programming direction. Is it just coincidental that the firing happened with acquisition of the network by Comcast? Connecting the dot's (matching what politicians say and do), for the people and for themselves is important to people that rely on democracy, little 'd'. So silencing a voice that seemed to believe strongly in a democracy, which will disappear if it can be bought, is a very scary proposition for the middle class of which I am part of.
Is this the beginning of a paradigm shift in news reporting - to replace independent intelligent voices that connect what politician say and do… as in do as I say because you cannot do as I do? Keith Olbermann will be missed but I hope not gone... for long.
Wasn’t it Keith Olbermann’s Countdown program who put MSNBC on the map, viewer-wise? Just who or what entity turned up the heat to replace his voice and for what reason - he's just one voice. Who is scared of one voice?
All in all I did not like everything Keith Olbermann, but he was a voice with a heart in the right place and a mind and a vocabulary I learned from (almost) every night! Bye Keith, come back soon... intelligent reporting needs you desperately which was why I turned from CNN to MSNBC!
Ha. What a load of horse stuff.
Okay, so you elites at Comcast have fired the conservative commentator Keith Olberman, no doubt because he is too "liberal." In other words, you don't like Mr. Olberman because he does not push the corporate political agenda on command like an obedient content provider is supposed to do.
I'll be waiting to see if you anonymous cowards at Comcast allow MSNBC to broadcast other mildly pro-constitutional commentators besides Mr. Olberman. I won't be holding my breath.
Are we Americans tired of the Bill of Rights? Are we ready for the dictatorship of the corporate elite?
This all politics behind this merger. I will disconnect my comcast immediately. Keith Olbermann is a very talented and intelligent individual and I will follow him to his new endeavors.
You guys aren't too bright. Any amount of research would show you that Comcast contributes a ton to the Democratic party and candidates as well. They pretty much endorsed Obama the last time around. The reality is that Jeff Zucker protected Keith Olbermann... Zucker's last day was this week, so you figure it out.
Comcast...I've been seriously considering switching from your services to ATT. Firing Keith might just seal the deal for me. It's clear from your political contributions that you are Republicans....Your Democrat subscribers are watching you!!! Don't screw with MSNBC!

Keith Olbermann is an extremely talented and intelligent voice of sanity who gave us a dose of reality everyday, expertly exposing the right wing ranters, such as Beck, Limbaugh, et al. He will hopefully bring his talents to a network that will truly appreciate him. By the way you've made it easy for me to stay with DirecTV instead of opting for Comcast TV. I still use you for email but hmmmmmmm?

The definition of responsible is able to respond. If they didn't want this to happen, they would have gotten their asses on the phone with NBC by 8:03 and stopped it. By not stopping the action, they have proven they stand behind it. They just wanted plausible deniability, and they will not get it.
Thank you for sharing your views with us on this issue. Please understand that Comcast does not currently manage NBC Universal and has no operational control at any of its networks including, MSNBC. Our deal to purchase NBC Universal has not closed and legally we are not able to make any business decisions involving NBC Universal's businesses or programming at this time.
We pledged from the day our agreement for NBC Universal was announced that we would not interfere with NBC Universal's news operations. We have not, and we will not in the future.
We don't believe you.
KEITH OBERMANN is one of the finest commentators in America. I am immediately canceling my two daughters accounts with comcast and switching them to at&t. Comcast evidently wants MSNBC to be the equivalent of elevator music. Comcast evidently is afraid of FOX news and old Rupert and are going to move NBC to the right thinking they will improve ratings. I think the suits are in for a big surprize. I am joining the boycott of NBC and I hope the boycott is successful in reducing viewership to the bottom of ratings barrel.
Comcast can say whatever Comcast wants... fact remains, Keith Olbermann is gone within days of Comcast/NBC deal being closed. Say what you will (and you will) but the situation is pretty clear to us! Only hope Mr Olbermanns' voice does not stay silent long.
Please don't change the line up anymore! Mika and Joe are my wake up for the day, reality and both sides of the issues. Lawrence will be a nice way to close the evening.
Since Keith will be gone, unfortunately I will miss his humor, passion and updates on the craziness of Faux News.
Thanks,
ps: Don't mess with Chris or Rachel, they are just fun. Ed is too loud and angry for my taste.
Bring back Keith Olbermann!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COMCAST SUCKS AND HAS LOST MY BUSINESS. I AM SWITCHING CABLE AND INTERNET PROVIDERS!!!
Comcast, if word gets out that your acquisition had ANYTHING to do with the despicable firing of Keith Olbermann I will drop my Comcast service in a heartbeat! So will my father. So will several of my friends. I am already done with that now worthless property you purchased, MSNBC. If your acquisition didn't cause this travesty, then i encourage you to interfere with NBC operations and GET HIM BACK!!!!
I am a loyal Comcast customer but be advised that if it is proven that Comcast management was somehow involved in Mr. Olbermann's leaving MSNBC, I will terminate my service.
"We pledged from the day the deal was announced that we would not interfere with NBC Universal's news operations. We have not and we will not."
OK, I'll take your word on that for now even though it seems suspect that such a major decision happened so soon after the FCC's approval. Now, before the deal closes, is probably a good time to renegotiate the value of MSNBC because - in my opinion - without Olbermann MSNBC is just a halfstep above worthless.
Just another nail in the coffin why I would never pay Comcast for any services. We need diverse news, not one sided fake news. Whats next, SNL?
You must bring Keith back. He was the bright spot of my day. Come out with the truth about his leaving. No one can equal him
It's about time our antitrust laws were enforced. Comcast should be broken up and its assets seized. after your firing (yes, it is obvious) of Keith Olbermann--the demise of Comcast will be a pleasure to watch. Can't happen soon enough.
I am sure that is not true. Keith Olbermann made you nervous as he does all right wingers squirm in your seats. You have lost a daily viewer, and subscriber. Play with my voice, I'll play with your pockets.
How stupid do you think we viewers are? We know what you are, and we know what Keith is.
You aren't worth his little finger.
Sorry, don't believe you had nothing to do with it.
Hire him back quickly if you mean it.
Congratulations! You have finally pissed me off to the point I will finally get another provider and dump comcast and the $200 payment I send every month. It will be DISH for me.
Dumping Keith Olbermann was it for me. MSNBC is on permanent block on my channel selector, and ASAP, Comcast will be gone, gone, gone.
Without Keith, you might as well turn out the lights at MSNBC. I think ratings will be taking a real dive after today. Keith was your star player, and you treated him very poorly. You deserve the worst.
Do you think we are stupid?
I will be switching from Comcast immediately. Deny your involvement all you want, the facts are clear. I hope you run NBC into the ground.
If Comcast truly had no involvement in Olbermann's firing then I would imagine you'll happily bring him back once the takeover is completed.
Ms. FItzmaurice;
Please, reconsider the actions of Comcast's Media & Entertainment department's decision to "Have Not and Will Not (interfere)" with Mr. Olbermann's situation.
