Green Your Home with Xfinity Home Security

Xfinity Home Security, Comcast's home security system coupled with remote home management, continues to launch in various markets across the country and it helps customers stay connected to their home - from anywhere, via their computers and mobile devices.

With the winter heating season upon us, we thought it would be a great time to highlight some of the energy saving features that are available with Xfinity Home Security. I recently spoke with Mitch Bowling, SVP and GM of New Businesses, and in this video he discusses how you can control a digital thermostat and lighting in your home.

I use the thermostat at my Texas lake home to reduce my energy costs. I turn down the thermostat to 50 in the winter and 85 in summer so I'm not heating or cooling a vacant second home. Before I head out there with my family for the weekend, I get on my iPhone app and turn the temperature to what I want when I arrive. I also set up a rule to text my cell phone when the thermostat temperature hits 50 degrees of 85 degrees so I know my HVAC system is kicking in. Lastly, I used to have to make a trip to the lake house every spring and fall to change the thermostats from Heat to AC or vice-versa. Now I do that anywhere via the web portal or my iPhone which is much more convenient.
