David L. Cohen

Here at Comcast Brian Roberts is our CEO, Steve Burke runs cable, Mike Angelakis is our chief financial officer, and I’m responsible for all the things no one else wanted: public policy, government affairs, corporate communications, human resources, legal and corporate administration just to name a few. With all those areas of responsibility I spend a great deal of time helping navigate the company through complex deals and policy issues.

My true life’s passion (other than my family and rooting for the Phillies) is public service, a passion I pursue in both my personal and professional life. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in both the public and private sectors, and here at Comcast I spend time in Philadelphia and in cities across the country meeting and working with community leaders and public officials.

I’m a fairly new blogger -this is officially my first foray in the online conversation. I do read several blogs regularly and I still read more than half a dozen newspapers a day the old fashioned way: on paper. I’m excited to talk about a side of Comcast most people aren’t familiar with —- including some insight into how and why the company makes decisions, a look at the Comcast Foundation and the impact that we have on our communities and our passion for diversity in the workplace.

During my free time I am serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Chair of the Trustee Board and the Executive Committee of Penn Medicine (an umbrella governance structure overseeing both the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the University’s School of Medicine). I’m also a member of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and of its Executive Committee (I’m the Chair Elect of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania), a national trustee of City Year, I serve on the national board of the National Urban League. I’m also a member of the Corporate Advisory Board of the National Council of La Raza and the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia. So while this all means I have no free time, I can honestly say I enjoy every minute.

Comcast is a dream employer for me because I love technology and television. I’ve been text messaging and had a PDA since the mid-90’s and in whatever spare time I have I am playing around with all our great products and services.
