Dr. Stephen D. Smith, one of the world’s leading advocates of Holocaust education and genocide prevention, became USC Shoah Foundation Institute Executive Director in August 2009. He was the founding director of the UK Holocaust Centre and inaugural chair of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. He also founded the Aegis Trust for the prevention of crimes against humanity and genocide.
Stephen was project director of the Kigali Memorial Centre in Rwanda, and is a trustee of the Cape Town Holocaust Centre. He has taught extensively and has been a member of the International Task Force for Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research since its inception in 1998.
